Chaunsa is one of the most popular mango varieties in Pakistan, gaining fame through Sher Shah Suri, who named his favorite mango after his victory over Humayun at Chausa. Chaunsa and its varieties reach the markets from mid-June to September, beginning with the original fruit and followed by White Chaunsa, Black Chaunsa, and the late-season Azeem Chaunsa, locally known as Rattewala. Chaunsa is also referred to as "Samar Bahist." Samar Bahist means (The Fruit of Heaven).
